What is BBPS?
The Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) is an RBI mandated system which offers integrated and interoperable bill payment services to customers across geographies with certainty, reliability and safety of transactions.
Who can use it?
BBPS facility is available for the Bank’s customers as well as non-customers. Customers can pay their bill in cash or transfer cheque and non-customer can pay the same through cash only.
What all Bill Payment categories are included in BBPS?
Following are the Bill Payment Categories. There are 22 Biller Category.

What are the advantages of using BBPS?
Following are the advantages of BBPS -
Bills can be paid anytime during the branch timing.
These payments made using National Payments Corporation of India’s (NPCI) network are secured and guaranteed.
Cashless bill facility available for our existing customers.
Bill payment service can be extended to non-customers through cash mode only (no cheques to be accepted for clearing).
Will the customer get intimation from the Bank after the successful transaction?
Yes. After every successful transaction, customer will get transaction confirmation SMS.
How does the customer know that the transaction has been completed successfully?
After successful transaction of bill payment, a transaction receipt can be printed and handed over to the customer.
Can non-customer pay the bill? And how?
Yes. Non-customer can pay bill only by cash (upto Rs. 49,999/-). He has to deposit the cash on the cash counter with his/her original bill.
Paid a wrong bill? What to do?
In BBPS Module, wrong bill is not possible as for all bills one needs to fetch bill details from the biller e.g., Landline Bill payment /Electricity Bill. Suppose staff enters wrong consumer no. or details, in such case a request with NPCI is raised and NPCI directly transfers amount to correct consumer no. Customers too have option of directly contacting the biller for refund to bank.
What is Online Bill & Offline Bill?
Online Biller is the one who makes current billing data available to NPCI and the same can be fetched before making payment. e.g., Landline Bill payment /Electricity Bill.
Offline Biller is one who does not provide NPCI with Bill Details on behalf of customers for current Billing cycle but authorizes collection of bills. e.g. Mobile postpaid.
When my bill will be paid actually?
Your bill is paid on the same day irrespective of the mode of payment. You will also get confirmation SMS from the Bank.
Can I pay multiple bills in single instance? (Multiple bills & single cash)
Yes. You can pay multiple bills in single instance with single cash.
Limit of bill payment?
: Can pay bill amounting to Rs 49999/- in cash.
: Can pay bill amounting to Rs 49999/- in cash or upto Rs 5 Lakh through account transfer.
Note: As per latest guidelines (December-2021) of MSEDCL Bill payment, bank can accept bill payment in cash only upto Rs 5000/-.
Can I get old payment confirmation receipt on future date in case of dispute?
Yes. Branch can give a Duplicate Bill payment receipt.
